The photographs in this album are elements of a body of work I call Campus. Campus began simply enough. One day I was enjoying a coffee at the campus bagel shop when I noticed an interesting arrangement of chairs gently lit by light coming from a nearby window. I pulled a camera from my backpack and captured the scene. Soon I was walking about the campus with my camera, focusing primarily on walls, windows and chairs. Such things may seem like fairly banal subjects to photograph, but to my eyes they are more than walls, windows and chairs. It is their potential for formal beauty, the ‘what else they are,’ that calls me to capture them with my photographs.
